OpusImg vs Canva
This is a comparison between two different kinds of product, and pretending otherwise would not help anyone. Canva is a design platform with an enormous template library and a collaboration story. OpusImg is an image toolkit that happens to include editable templates.

Where Canva is better
- The template library is not comparable to ours and will not be. Canva has an enormous, professionally designed, constantly updated catalogue with licensed stock imagery behind it. We have 100 abstract templates with no licensed assets in them, and that is a different product.
- Collaboration, brand kits, approval workflows and team libraries are a real product category that we do not participate in at all. If more than one person touches the design, that is Canva's argument and it is a strong one.
- It goes far beyond images: presentations, video, documents, websites, print ordering and scheduling. For a small team that wants one tool for everything visual, that breadth is the point.
- Its AI editing suite is broader than ours, and with remove.bg's technology moving in it is about to get better at the specific thing remove.bg was best at.
Where OpusImg is better
- The utility work is free, unlimited, and needs no account. Compressing forty images or converting a HEIC does not require signing into a design platform.
- Local processing for those tools. A design platform necessarily uploads everything; our compressor, converter, resizer, redaction tool and OCR do not.
- Precision formats Canva does not target: passport and ID photo specifications for 30 authorities, print dimensions with bleed arithmetic, searchable PDF output.
These products barely overlap
The overlap is a template library and an editor, and on that overlap Canva is better. It has more templates, better ones, licensed imagery, and a decade of investment in the editing experience. A comparison page that argued otherwise would be worthless.
The non-overlap is where the interesting part is. Canva is not where you go to compress forty product photographs, strip GPS coordinates from a set of images, crop an ID photograph to a national specification, or pull text out of a scanned invoice. Those are utility jobs with correct answers, and they want a tool rather than a canvas.
The account question
Canva requires an account for everything, which is reasonable for a platform built around saved designs and collaboration. It is friction when the job is thirty seconds long.
OpusImg's local tools require no account at all, because there is nothing to save on our side — the work happened on your machine. That is the same architectural fact as the privacy claim, seen from a different angle.
On pricing
Canva prices per person, per region, in local currency, with a free tier that is genuinely usable and paid tiers that unlock premium content and AI. We are not quoting a figure here because the figure depends on where you are, and publishing one region's price as though it were universal is exactly the kind of stale claim these pages are supposed to avoid.
Which to use
Use Canva when
You are designing rather than processing, more than one person is involved, you need licensed stock, or you want one platform for presentations, video and print as well.
Use OpusImg when
The job is a utility job — compress, convert, resize, redact, extract, or hit an exact specification — and you want it done without an account and without uploading.
